Le Marche
“Italy, with its landscapes, is the essence of the world. Le Marche is the essence of Italy, and its hills can compare to a large, natural Italian garden, the prototype of the idyllic bucolic landscape.
Choose a leisurely trip to Le Marche to find a wealth of wonders”.
Despite progress and industrial development, the Piceno province has not forgotten its rural vocation. Its inhabitants have preserved their artisan traditions (e.g. bobbin lace, copper work, pottery) as well as their gastronomic ones (e.g. stuffed olives, cured meats, mountain truffle, fish soups, extra virgin olive oil, wines with designation of origin)
La Buona Maniera is located in the Municipality of Monteprandone, a lovely medieval village. Monteprandone was the birthplace of Saint Giacomo della Marca. Giacomo, a Franciscan friar, built the Monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Monteprandone in 1449, following the spiritual legacy of San Francesco d’Assisi (Assisi is only 160Km from Monteprandone). The Saint’s remains are preserved in the Friary Church, the Sanctuary of Saint Giacomo. Walking through the maze of narrow roads in the village, you will enjoy breathtaking views, picturesque squares, small shops, churches and the Museo dei Codici. Monteprandone is just a stone’s throw from other enchanting historic villages: Offida, Acquaviva Picena, Monsampolo del Tronto and Ripatransone.
It only takes a 20-minute drive to get to the beautiful city of Ascoli Piceno, the so called ‘city of 100 towers’. Built on travertine marble, the city is famous for its stunning Piazza del Popolo (People’s Square) which is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, a jewel of Renaissance architecture. Paved in travertine, it is framed by an open gallery with 59 arches, embattled palaces, one of which houses the historic Caffè Meletti.
San Benedetto del Tronto is only a few miles away, just 10 minutes by car. This attractive seaside resort on the coast of the region has a very important fishing port, a marina and the Molo Sud (the South Pier) which is also an open-air museum with a permanent exhibition of works of contemporary art sculpted into the rocks that protect the pier, as well as large graffiti. The long, white, sandy beach and the beautiful sea front with its lidos, water features and hundreds of palm trees have earned the city the second name of Riviera delle Palme (Palm Tree Riviera).
